Pinkbike now in UTF-8

Pinkbike just switched to the UTF-8 character set. This means that the whole world can now post and comment in their own character set.

I'm sure you have all seen comments sometimes become unreadable because of question marks or other junk characters taking over, but now we have fixed all that.

great job! whenever i tried to write in french, all the accented characters went crazy. this is a great improvement, making pinkbike more multi-lingual than it already was.
the only problem is that there will now be little pockets of riders because no-one will be able to join in witht he conversation
lots of people already talk in other languages. most people here no some english, so now if they dont how to say it in english, they just say so, and type it in another language

I think now what Pinkbike should do is on any foreign language comment or forum post etc. they should have like some sort of way to translate to english, like a translate button on the side of the comment or something, I just think it would be a way of keeping us all in touch and could understand better.
danscott, do you know how inaccurate most translators are? they dont know how to properly compose sentences or if theres a word with several translations, it cant figure out what to put in its place, so english becomes just as confusing...
besides, people know that the magority here is english, and if they want answers to their questions, they have to post in english.

I guess you right because I don't know how inaccurate translators are but i do know that some people on this site sometimes get really mad to some people that don't wright in English, it was just a thought.
haha, no probs, but translators create their own language. translate a sentence into another language, then back to english, and 99% of the time, itll be completely different

Thats portuguese man, it has some "similarities", but at the end it's different, example:

uhh.. something like "for your unprofanabilty" but it's untranslateable. Well.. my language is probably the most difficult european language, so...
hahahahahaaaa.... weeelll.... I know somebody who lives here in Hungary for more than 20 years and he couldn't learn the language. And let me tell you, that person isn't some silly shit. He can talk if he really has to, but with tons of mistakes...

Es como más bien para idiomas que tengan caracteres especiales, como el Chino, Árabe y demás. Lo del español se soluciona poniendo el teclado en español, pero como tú vives en España, para ti es más fácil.

I could not agree more. Moreover, you go down that road, and there is a chance, however little it might actually be, you will be missing something valuable in a way. This is pretty much like when that guy told me the other day that if God did not exist, anything could be done as no punishment will be brought upon you at the end of time. What I did reply to him though is that, if that was the case, all the more reason to be particularly cautious not to harm people as this will leave them without compensation. Confused people do really put me through hard times; at times, in a way.

Yes dude: you just need to set up your keyboard in the right language. I use both, Spanish and English, so I've got the language bar set up for this purpose. If you just write in English, there is a chance you haven't installed your French version yet (I mean, into your computer). Here is the proof: vérité révelée

By the way, this is only a revamp: everything is gonna be the same. It is just that people who speak other languages will now be able to post in their own language using their own characters and stuff.
