Norco Signs World Cup Racer Fionn Griffiths

Published Feb 23, 2005 at 7:08
Canada's top race and freeride supporter is thrilled to welcome Fionn Griffiths as the newest member of the Norco Factory Team.

In only 3 years, Fionn has become a fierce competitor on the World Cup DH circuit with 15 World Cup podium finishes, including 2 World Cup wins at Mont Ste Anne, and Grouse Mountain in 2002 (apparently the Canadian climate agrees with her). In addition to holding the DH National Champion title in the UK for 5 straight seasons and being the 2003 NORBA series Champ, Fionn is also an accomplished 4x racer and dirt jumper – not bad for a 22 year old.

Vedder Mountain Logging Rally

Published Feb 18, 2005 at 3:10
Earlier this year Weyerhauser/Northwest Hardwoods proposed a new Forest Development Plan for Vedder Mountain in Chilliwack. This will negatively impact all recreational groups (Hiking, ATV/MX, Equestrian) but more importantly biking. Already the proposed cut blocks are on top of some of our favourite trails (Dilemma, Mexican Ninja, Mongoloyd), which would lead to their destruction. See the MAP (Cut blocks in yellow)
A Rally to save Vedder Mountain is scheduled for this Saturday, February 19 at 3:00pm. BE THERE!

Digging Some Holes

Published Feb 1, 2005 at 22:13
I wish I could say that I'm digging some dirt jumps and having fun, but I am currently digging up the Pinkbike website and making a mess. It's all in an effort to bring you some cool new features but it's going to hurt a little. Well not really. We're switching over to some new servers yet again, and running things on a different software version. Unfortunately there is no good way to test the efficiency and optimization other than running it live on Pinkbike with it's current load of 6 million hits a day.
You will possibly see some weirdness, slowdowns, shutdowns right before it all becomes pretty and fast again. Fun fun.

Published Jan 14, 2005 at 16:38
Recently I had the chance to get Drop In Producer Mike Johansen on the phone. Mike is one half of the production team behind the only freeride show on t.v. He was good enough to let me pick his brain for over an hour on everything from season one to the soon to be released season 3 and everything in betwen. I’ve been a fan of the series since its debut over two years ago. The following are some random questions from a mountain bike lover and a Drop In viewer. I present them to you Mountain Bike Nation.

Winter Tire Test

Published Jan 7, 2005 at 3:16
So it’s a week into January and there’s a layer of snow and ice covering your favorite singletrack. What’s a rider to do?
If you’re unadventurous and aren’t looking for a new thrill, chances are your two-wheeled friend becomes a ceiling ornament in your garage. Your wedge-shaped seat is replaced by a big comfy couch and your handlebars make way for the vibrating plastic Xbox controller. But if you can handle sub-zero temperatures and want to keep riding your bike while others are riding the sofa, the good news is there are some great options for studded winter mountain bike tires that will make riding on snow and ice like a day in the park.
The only problem is which tires to go with.

The Prophet has arrived.
But first a bit of background.
If Lance put Trek back into the mind of road cyclists, Cedric is putting Cannondale back into the mind of mountain bikers.
While Lance is flying up the mountains of France proving that Trek makes some of the best road bikes on earth, Cedric is flying down the mountains of North America, Europe and anything else he can find proving that Cannondale makes some of the best fat-tired bikes on earth.
